Arnie Casavant grew up in Rhode Island and he attended the University of Massachusetts under the GI Bill and graduated in 1975 with a BA in Art Education with a concentration in ceramics. He served on the faculty of Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Massachusetts beginning in 1978 and for several years was the Chairperson of the Easton Public School Art Department until his retirement in 2005.

Graduate work includes Massachusetts College of Art; Rhode Island School of Design, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as well as other colleges and universities throughout New England.

Plein air landscape painting is the primary focus. He has exhibited my work at the Yellow Barn Gallery, Glen Echo, MD; Spencer Lofts Gallery, Chelsea MA; Pearl Street Gallery, Chelsea, MA; and the Moakley Federal Courthouse, Boston, MA. From 2003 to 2011 he taught painting classes in the Berkshires, Cape Cod, and Boston through Northeastern University’s Institute for Professional Development and Graduate Studies in Education. Arnie says, “It is a pleasure to share with art educators my love, knowledge, and passion for painting, so that they may bring that knowledge to their students in secondary classrooms.”

Since retiring from the high school classroom ten years ago he has focused solely on his art. He is a member of the S.o.W.a Artists Guild. Much of his work has been conducted on location throughout New England and beyond: from Martha’s Vineyard to Myrtle Beach; from Cape Cod to California.
